Joel Templin enjoyed a successful design career spanning 27 years, earning recognition as one of the most sought-after creative professionals in the country. As co-founder of Templin Brink Design in 1998 and later Hatch Design in 2007, Joel developed distinctive, award-winning work for many of the world’s top Fortune 500 brands—including Apple, Coca-Cola, Dolby, Levi Strauss & Co., and Starbucks.
His work has been honored internationally and is included in the permanent collections of the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. A frequent speaker and global design judge, Joel influenced the trajectory of modern design—not only through his celebrated work, but by mentoring young creatives and shaping conversations in the industry.
In 2018, Joel sold his company and stepped away from the commercial design world. After a six-year creative pause, he returned to art with renewed purpose—launching Casa Templin, a personal and evolving collection of limited-edition works. Now based in Mazatlán, Mexico, Joel draws inspiration from his coastal surroundings to create art that blends sophistication, warmth, and timeless elegance. Casa Templin marks a new chapter—one that celebrates beauty, intention, and the joy of coming home to art.
